The patchwork top is lined and sewn down to the lining which prevents the patches fraying apart in the wash. The patches are cotton and they are all pre-washed so no uneven shrinkage when they are washed. The back is plain and zipped. The cushion pad is 20″ square and the entire cushion is 21″ square.
They are deliberately bright and not meant to “match” your general decor which is the beauty of patchwork. They are individual, made with love and care and intended to bring a smile – just what we all need in these challenging times.
Whilst they may challenge the “Co-ordinated Claras” among us they will bring cheer to all your passionate recycling friends if you treat them to one as a present. The cushions are made from fabrics carefully hoarded from various projects over many years. Any avid sewer reading this will completely understand the compulsion to hoard fabric I promise you! Each cushion is made up of 25 different patches so contrary to many people’s perception of patchwork being a pile of scraps just thrown together, thought and care goes into where each patch is placed.
